The Sacramento Kings have had a busy offseason thus far as they have made multiple additions to their roster to chase a playoff spot next season.

Of course, many around the NBA expected the Kings to begin a rebuild this offseason or at least trade one or two of their star players.

Instead, the Kings have elected to keep their core together and fight for a playoff spot in the Western Conference next season.

So far, the Kings have added Dennis Schroder in free agency and Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud in the 2025 draft but they have also been linked to many other players.

One player they have been linked to is Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga who is currently a restricted free agent.

It was reported on Wednesday that the Kings have offered Kuminga a four-year, $90 million contract but they will have to agree to a sign-and-trade deal with the Warriors to acquire him.

Despite this, ESPN’s Marc J. Spears reported on Wednesday that Sacramento is Kuminga’s preferred destination.

“The Kings are offering a starting spot. He's talked on a zoom call with Scott Perry, BJ Armstrong and also with Doug Christie. He's in,” Spears said about Kuminga.

This is a massive report by Spears and one that could also force the Warriors to lower their asking price for Kuminga this offseason as the young forward could force his way to Sacramento.

It has already been reported that Golden State turned down an offer from the Kings that included Devin Carter, Dario Saric and a protected first-round pick but if Kuminga forces his way to the Kings, the Warriors may be forced to accept Sacramento’s deal.

For Kuminga, landing in Sacramento would be a massive boost, especially to his playing time after he fell out of Steve Kerr’s rotation last season in Golden State.

Spears reported that the Kings are offering him a starting spot which would allow the 22-year-old forward to continue to develop and also would make him one of their top options in their rotation.

While that may be the case, there are others teams interested in Kuminga and it all depends on if a team is able to pull off a sign-and-trade deal with the Warriors to acquire him.
