BRISTOL, Tenn. − For all the planning and money and logistical achievements that went into staging the Speedway Classic, none of that guaranteed the weather would cooperate. It hasn't on Aug. 2, and we're in a rain delay at Bristol Motor Speedway.
The Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves completed their pre-game ceremonies but then entered a rain delay at Bristol Motor Speedway. The game will not start at its originally-scheduled first-pitch time of 7:15 p.m.
The video board at the race track displayed the following message: "Tonight's game has entered a weather delay. We will provide updates on the status of tonight's game as more information becomes available. Thanks for your patience."
