The Chicago Sky announced Angel Reese news.
"It's Over": WNBA Fans React to Angel Reese News After Chicago Sky's 6th Straight Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese is amid a very strong second WNBA season. Named to the All-Star team for the second time in as many years to begin her professional career, Reese is currently averaging 14.2 points and a league-leading 12.6 rebounds.
While these are very impressive individual numbers, Reese's personal success has not translated to many wins. After dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday night against the Washington Mystics, the Sky fell to 7-19 on the season, which is six games back of the final WNBA playoff spot.
Somehow, the news only continued to get worse from there.
Chicago Sky Announce Their Injury Report Against the Golden State Valkyries
Announcing their injury report for Friday night's game against the Golden State Valkyries, the Sky revealed that Reese had been ruled out with a back injury. This is not the first time Chicago's second-year forward has appeared on an injury report with this ailment, as it held her out just two games ago against the Indiana Fever.
Reese is joined on the injury report by Chicago's second-leading scorer Ariel Atkins, who has also been ruled out. Hailey Van Lith and Michaela Onyenwere are both questionable to play.

Chicago Sky Fans Give Up Hope After Angel Reese's Injury
This latest injury news hit the Sky fanbase hard. An overwhelming theme on social media was "it's over" — a sentiment shared by those who believe Chicago has no chance at making a postseason push in 2025.
"It’s overrrrrr Sky is tanking nowwwwww," said one fan.
"I knew it. She only played cause her family was in town but she’s nowhere near 100%," one added.
"The Chicago season is over," one wrote — adding the Vince Carter "it's over" gif.
"Back injuries are no joke. Sitting out the rest of the season should be considered," one claimed.
"Sit her for the season," suggested another.
Chicago Sky Unlikely to Make WNBA Playoffs
At 7-19, Chicago trails the eighth and final WNBA playoff spot by six games. Only the 4-21 Connecticut Sun own a worse record this season than Chicago. While fans want to see Reese play, the team is likely to be even more cautious with her given the unlikely nature of a postseason push being a possibility.
ESPN currently gives Chicago a 0.1% chance at making the WNBA playoffs, joining Connecticut and the Dallas Wings as the only three teams with less than a 1% chance.
