With Manchester United hopeful they can finally get a deal over the line for Bryan Mbeumo in the coming days, they’re already considering which targets they can pursue next.

One may come as a surprise to the Old Trafford faithful, too, as the Reds have reportedly added Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi to their shortlist.

Rumours of their interest first circulated last week but, expectedly, all focus has been on Mbeumo since a second bid worth £62.5 million was rejected by Brentford.

While talks remain ongoing between the two clubs, United have begun ‘working on’ a deal for the Foxes star, as per GiveMeSport.

Everton are also in the mix to try and prise Ndidi from the King Power Stadium, and he has garnered interest from Saudi Arabian outfits Al-Ahli, Al-Nassr and NEOM SC, all of whom could provide more lucrative financial proposals than the two English sides.

However, at 29 years old, Ndidi may be contemplating whether now is really the time to pull the curtains on his European career, especially given that INEOS are overlooking their general rule of buying younger players to try and sanction his arrival.

Should he take his exploits to the Middle East, he might never get the opportunity to ply his trade in England’s top flight again.

How much will Ndidi cost this summer?

Any acquisition of the Nigerian international could be made more straightforward by the fact that he has a £9 million release clause in his contract. That being said, United and the Toffees are aiming to pay closer to the £5m mark, with his wages proving to be something of a deterrent if they’re made to pay full price.

Ndidi, who has accumulated 220 Premier League appearances over the last eight years, will be spending next season in the Championship for the second time in three seasons as things stand.
