Liverpool have held talks over a summer deal for RB Leipzig attacker Yan Diomande, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg. Liverpool could lose both Mohammed Salah and Federico Chiesa at the end of the season, and Reds manager Arne Slot wants a quality replacement and a ‘high-class winger’ at the Anfield club. The Merseysiders had Bayern Munich attacker Michael Olise on their radar but have moved on to Diomande as a deal for the Frenchman is not realistic. However, Liverpool must be ready to break the bank to sign the 19-year-old as Leipzig are demanding up to €100 million for his services from suitors.
Diomande is also being watched by Bayern, but his price tag has kept the Bundesliga giants away. The Liverpool target has ten goals and seven assists in 26 appearances for his club this term and has caught the attention of the major bigwigs across Europe. He can play on both wings and the Reds believe he has what it takes to hit the ground running in the Premier League. His major strengths include dribbling, finishing and ability to play good passes, which are qualities Slot wants in his wingers.
He could be perfect for Liverpool as they look to bounce back from a woeful domestic campaign going forward, but signing him is not a given. They may have to qualify for the Champions League next season to have a chance of pipping other suitors to his services.
