Pair of strong games on Saturday night.
The WNBA is approaching the midpoint of the season. We already know the All-Star captains, starters, and head coaches. All that’s left is the announcement of the reserves. In the meantime, there are games to focus on, as teams continue battling for position in their conference standings. Two games are on the schedule for Saturday, July 5, 2025:
Los Angeles Sparks at Indiana Fever
Caitlin Clark is expected to miss her fifth straight game, but that hasn’t slowed down the Indiana Fever. They’ve won three in a row, including the Commissioner’s Cup on Tuesday. On Thursday, they dominated the Las Vegas Aces. Kelsey Mitchell leads Indiana in scoring with 19.3 points per game. The Fever are now 9-8 on the season.

The Los Angeles Sparks, meanwhile, are off to a rough start. At 5-13, they sit sixth in the Western Conference. They've dropped two straight, including a road loss to New York on Thursday. Kelsey Plum is the team’s leading scorer with 20.1 points per game, but it hasn’t been enough to turn things around.
Golden State Valkyries at Minnesota Lynx
The Golden State Valkyries are off to an impressive start for an expansion team. Their 9-7 record might not jump off the page, but they’ve quickly become competitive, currently sitting fourth in the Western Conference. They’ve won two straight, most recently beating Seattle at home last Sunday. Kayla Thornton leads the team with 15 points per game, and Golden State has five players averaging double figures.
The Minnesota Lynx remain one of the top teams in the league despite Tuesday’s loss to Indiana. Last season, the Lynx fell in five games to New York in the WNBA Finals. They bounced back with a 92-75 win over Washington, where Napheesa Collier scored 28 points. She now leads the league with 24.6 points per game.
Enjoy the games. Both should be entertaining, with the home teams favored in each matchup.
