  • Several Baltimore Ravens players asked Olympian Michael Phelps to teach them how to swim after revealing they never learned
  • Phelps, a Baltimore native and longtime Ravens fan, agreed to teach the players
  • One of the players in the video said he didn't realize his teammate was going to post the video online

Michael Phelps is taking on some high-profile new swim students.

The 40-year-old Olympic swimmer agreed to a request from several Baltimore Ravens players after they revealed multiple members of the team never learned how to swim.

In a synchronized swimming-style video posted on Instagram by cornerback Marlon Humphrey, he and safety Kyle Hamilton, offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley and tight end Charlie Kolar explain to Phelps that they need his help during training camp.

Each player said one line before diving into the water to make room for the next player in the video. "Hey Mr. Phelps, we have a problem,"

"Did you know that 1 in 3 Ravens cannot swim?," Hamilton said next.

"We have a solution for you sir," Kolar then said, and later told reporters during a media availability that he didn't realize his teammate would actually post the video.

"Come to Ravens training camp in this beautiful aquatic center and teach the Ravens how to swim." said Humphrey.

Phelps agreed, writing in a comment, "I got yall!!! Let’s do it!!"

Flavor Flav also chimed in in the comments, suggesting the players could also learn from some of the U.S. women's water polo players he sponsored during the 2024 Paris Olympics. "Only Michael Phelps,?? What if I pull up with some of my Olympic Water Polo players,?? 👀@ashleighjohnson@maggie.steffens."

Kolar said he "should have known" that Humphrey would post the video and tag Phelps, calling it "so on brand" of his teammate. “I thought it was going to be like a story or maybe sent to him, but I should have known better. I should have known better.”

Phelps, a Baltimore native, is a longtime fan of the Ravens. During a 2004 game, the team brought him as their special guest, and again in 2012, the Olympian was honored at a home game when he lead the team's offense onto the field.

And when Phelps won six medals at the 2012 London Olympics, he credited Ravens legend Ray Lewis with inspiring him to return to swimming.

The Ravens will kick off their NFL season with a road game against Josh Allen's Buffalo Bills on Sept. 7.
