As Liam Rosenior pointed out in his press conference today, the white balls are back in training, meaning spring is here and we’re into the final phase of the Premier League season.
There’s no room left for error, and the Evening Standard have pointed to three ways in which the manager can get Chelsea back on track in these final weeks and secure the Champions League place this project so desperately needs so that it can claim it’s not going backwards.
Three ways Chelsea can get season back on track
Cole Palmer lies on the turf and waits for treatment in the first half.
The first is “cut out indiscipline,” a pretty obvious response to the red cards which have been plaguing this team all season.
The second is a suggestion that Rosenior getting directly involved in set pieces, as he revealed he was in his presser this week, will help. Although we’re not sure what Rosenior can offer that his specialist set piece coach Bernardo Cueva isn’t already doing.
Third is perhaps the most important of all – “get Cole Palmer firing.” The attacking midfielder’s bad form has gone beyond recovering from injury now. He’s got 3 Premier League goals from open play in 18 months.
Fix one of these and we will be in a better position. Fix all three and we might just make the top 5.
In other news…
Liam Rosenior noted that Alejandro Garnacho gets a lot of abuse from opposition fans, and speculated that it was because of his “threat” as a player.
Rosenior also gave some strong hints that Garnacho could start in tonight’s crunch game against Aston Villa.
