The New York Knicks have been predicted to send Karl-Anthony Towns to the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster offseason trade.
Knicks Predicted to Send Karl-Anthony Towns to Suns for $171 Million Trio in 3-Team Blockbuster Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The New York Knicks are coming off a successful season that saw them reach the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000.
Despite this, they elected to fire head coach Tom Thibodeau after their playoff exit and replaced him with former Sacramento Kings coach Mike Brown.
Of course, the Knicks will be bringing back their core led by Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns next season and with the Eastern Conference wide open, they are expected to compete near the top of the conference next season.
So far this offseason, the Knicks have focused on upgrading their depth, which was a major issue last season, by signing Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele in free agency.
With this in mind, Sports Illustrated’s Jackson Caudell and Rohan Raman recently created a mock trade that would allow the Knicks to continue to upgrade their depth, though it would require them to trade Towns.
In the trade, the Knicks would send Towns and Pacome Dadiet to the Phoenix Suns for a massive package that involves Dillon Brooks, Grayson Allen, Nick Richards, a 2032 first-round pick and three second-round picks.
New York would also send Tyler Kolek to the Atlanta Hawks in this blockbuster three-team mock trade.
This would be an interesting move for the Knicks but one that would allow them to add even more talent to their bench, though moving on from Towns would be a tough thing for them to do.
Richards would be a solid replacement for Towns at the center position or the Knicks could also move Mitchell Robinson into the starting lineup.
The additions of Allen and Brooks would be major upgrades to their second unit, especially defensively and New York would also add more draft capital they could use in the future to pull off more trades.
Despite this, the Knicks have shown no interest in moving on from Towns this offseason and the Suns may also shut down this offer as they would be losing multiple key pieces as they try to turn their franchise around.
