Having struggled to impress this season, Savinho’s Manchester City future has been thrown into uncertainty despite the club seeing him as “untouchable”.
Manchester City sold Oscar Bobb to Fulham in January but even with one less competitor on the right side of attack, Savinho, 21, has struggled for minutes following the arrival of the in-form Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.
In that time, Semenyo has only bolstered his status as one of the most exciting talents in the Premier League at present, contributing to seven goals in his first 10 games as a City player. He scored on his debut against Exeter City in the FA Cup one day after joining.
Subsequently, it has proven to be a tough time for Savinho who has scored twice and assisted three times in 23 appearances in the 2025/26 campaign with his future at City coming under intense scrutiny. Furthermore, his case hasn’t been helped by a string of injuries this season.
According to sources at Caught Offside, doubts over the Brazilian’s future are very much growing as the likes of Tottenham, Juventus and clubs from La Liga vest their interest in the talented left-footer.
In August 2025, Tottenham were understood to have been preparing a club-record bid of around £70 million for Savinho after their quest to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace collapsed at the eleventh hour – with the England international eventually moving across north London to Arsenal instead.
However, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano suggested at the time that Manchester City informed Tottenham they were never planning on altering their stance on Savinho’s move – and wouldn’t have been moved even by a bid exceeding £70 million. The Brazilian went on to sign a new deal at the Etihad Stadium in October 2025 that will run till 2031.
Not least because of his existing talent, City sporting director Hugo Viana is said to be ‘convinced’ of the forward’s potential and equally, head coach Pep Guardiola is determined to mould him into a complete attacker.
In December 2025, Guardiola said: “What I like from Savinho is always he is digging, go, go, go, all the time,” as quoted by DAZN. “The final decision can be better, of course, but always I reward this work-ethic and especially because he goes and he goes all the time.
“Like Jeremy (Doku), when he (Savinho) has the ball he goes and goes. Last season, he played a lot of minutes with us. Sometimes we don’t play with proper wingers. We play slightly different in the last seasons, maybe play less. But we trust him a lot, he’s young.”
The report suggests Savinho remains fully committed to Manchester City despite his lack of minutes but after recovering from a thigh problem, the Brazilian could see more minutes come his way this weekend against Leeds United – after he was an unused substitute against Newcastle United last time out in the Premier League.
Whether he will feature at Elland Road remains to be seen but the likelihood of him staying put at the Etihad Stadium is still in the balance, especially considering City are understood to be wanting at least £75 million for him.
