Conor McGregor responds to being UFC’s most drug-tested fighter as 18-month ban nears end

It’s not exactly news to Conor McGregor that he’s topped the UFC’s drug-testing list for 2026. The former two-division champion has been out of action since suffering a leg break at UFC 264 back in July 2021.

It’s not exactly news to Conor McGregor that he’s topped the UFC’s drug-testing list for 2026.

The former two-division champion has been out of action since suffering a leg break at UFC 264 back in July 2021.

Now, five years on from that injury, McGregor is in the middle of an 18-month suspension.

He’s eyeing up a return at the UFC White House event on June 14, hoping to finally get back into the octagon.

The UFC Anti-Doping Test History database has published its latest figures for 2026. So far, 597 fighters have been tested, with a total of 771 samples collected this year.

Of those athletes, 54 have been tested twice, but only one has had more checks than that. Even while serving a ban from competition, Conor McGregor has already been drug tested three times in 2026.

McGregor reposted the data to his X – formerly known as Twitter – account and added:

“Well, no surprise there. As always, the most tested.”

Why is Conor McGregor serving an 18-month ban?

Conor McGregor received an 18-month ban in October 2025 for violating the UFC’s anti-doping policy.

The 37-year-old has never tested positive for banned substances during his career with MMA’s top promotion.

His suspension is down to missing whereabouts filings three times, rather than any failed test.

The ban was backdated to the third infraction, making McGregor eligible to return on March 20, 2026. That lines up with his plans to fight at the White House event still very much in play.
