The big news for the Chicago Sky on Tuesday night is that Angel Reese will be making her return to action after a two-game absence. The 23-year-old has been forced to sit out Chicago’s last two contests due to a back injury, but she has been cleared to play against the Washington Mystics on Tuesday night.

Sky Make Hailey Van Lith Decision

Along with the decision to green light Reese for the Mystics game came unfortunate news involving rookie guard Hailey Van Lith.

Van Lith was also sidelined in Sunday’s deflating loss to a Caitlin Clark-less Indiana Fever side. Van Lith, however, has been ruled out of Tuesday’s contest due to a lingering ankle issue.

It is worth noting that Van Lith was seen riding the stationary bike ahead of the game, which led to some optimism about her availability. As it turns out, however, the 5-foot-9 guard was not able to recover in time for Tuesday’s contest and will sit out at least one more game. She has missed five games this season.

Van Lith’s next chance to suit up will be on Friday in a home game against the Golden State Valkyries. In 21 appearances for Chicago this season, the former TCU standout has averaged 4.2 points, 1.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.1 3-pointers and 13.8 minutes off the bench.

Angel Reese Returns to Action for Sky

While being without the services of Van Lith is a blow for Chicago, there’s no denying the bigger development is Reese’s return. The two-time All-Star is arguably the best player on the Sky roster at the moment and her presence should serve as a significant boost for her squad.

Reese will be looking to pick up where she left off prior to the injury. She enters the Mystics game averaging 13.8 points and a league-leading 12.5 rebounds, along with 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals per contest.

Look for Reese to try to make up for lost time in Tuesday’s game as she looks to help the Sky improve on their 7-18 record.
