The Sacramento Kings are in a weird spot when it comes to being a playoff contending team next season after they failed to make the playoffs last season.

Of course, many around the NBA believed that the Kings would begin a rebuild or at least move one or two of their stars this offseason after trading De’Aaron Fox last season.

Instead, the Kings have gone all-in on upgrading their roster and chasing a playoff spot last season with the addition of Dennis Schroder being the headline for them this summer.

Sacramento is also expected to make more moves before the start of next season and they have recently been named one of the top suitors for Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga.

According to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel, the Kings and Chicago Bulls are the top trade suitors for Kuminga this summer and he released a mock trade that would send the young forward to Sacramento on Monday.

In the trade, the Kings would acquire Kuminga from the Warriors while they would send Golden State Devin Carter and a 2027 top-eight protected first-round pick.

Golden State would also acquire Haywood Highsmith from the Miami Heat in this deal while Miami would land Malik Monk from Sacramento and KJ Martin from the Utah Jazz.

For Utah, they would acquire Terry Rozier, a 2029 first-round pick and 2027 second-round pick from the Heat.

This is an interesting trade for every team involved, especially the Kings as they would have to give up a young player in Carter along with one of their top scorers from last season in Monk.

Despite this, adding Kuminga to their roster would be a solid pickup for the Kings as the young forward would become a key piece of their future.

For the Kings to land Kuminga, they will have to move on from either Monk or DeMar DeRozan due to cap reasons and that is exactly what they would do in this deal.

While this trade could work out well for the Kings, the Warriors may want more in return for Kuminga which could hinder Sacramento’s chances of landing him this summer.
