The St. Louis Blues pushed the Winnipeg Jets to seven games in the playoffs, and now are looking to make some splashes this offseason. St. Louis has been looking to add more talent as it looks to make a push in the Western Conference.

St. Louis has been linked to a few players on the trade market, but one has emerged as a real candidate. That would be defenseman Bowen Byram of the Buffalo Sabres, who has been placed in trade rumors all summer.

NHL writer Joe Tansey of Bleacher Report predicted that Byram will be moved to the Blues, giving St. Louis a legitimate star to work with.

"St. Louis makes sense because it just let go of Nick Leddy and has an open spot in its top six on defense. The Blues followed a similar strategy on the restricted free-agent market last year when they acquired Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg from the Edmonton Oilers.

"St. Louis reinforced its blue line with the addition of Cam Fowler in a midseason trade last year as well. The addition of Byram would give the Blues a few solid pairings on defense with Colton Parayko, Fowler, Justin Faulk, Broberg and Ryan Suter already at the position," Tansey wrote.

Adding a player like Byram to the mix could drastically help the Blues become more credible in the West. Byram scored seven goals and 31 assists for the Blues this past season.

St. Louis has been very active in trying to upgrade the blueline, and a trade for Byram could do wonders. It remains to be seen how this will play out, but St. Louis has been active in trade talks.
