Prayers are pouring in for Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani on Wednesday evening.
Ohtani, the best two-way player in baseball history, returned to pitching this year after missing all of 2024. Ohtani has undergone two Tommy John surgeries, one in 2018 and another one in 2023. But he was able to make his way back to the mound a couple of months into the 2025 season.
However, Ohtani might have suffered another injury.
Wednesday night, with the Dodgers taking on the Cincinnati Reds, Ohtani had a concerning appearance on the mound. He threw six straight balls in the bottom of the fourth inning, with a couple of pitches missing badly.
Ohtani has since walked off the mound.
It didn't look good.
"Shohei Ohtani just walked off the mound with a Dodgers' trainer after throwing six consecutive balls and looking quite frustrated," longtime MLB insider Bob Nightengale shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday night.
Dodgers fans are praying for Ohtani's arm
Prayers are pouring in for the Los Angeles Dodgers star on Wednesday evening. Baseball is better when he is fully healthy.
"I hate the Dodgers for the salary stuff, but I love Ohtani to death. Prayers up," one fan wrote.
"Praying for Ohtani," another fan wrote.
"At this point, we’re just praying," one fan added.
"Praying for Ohtani tonight man," one fan added.
Shohei Ohtani threw six straight balls, missing badly on most of them, and is now leaving with a trainer. Uh oh.

Ohtani is one of the game's best hitters and, when healthy on the mound, one of the best pitchers, too.
But perhaps this will be the final straw and Ohtani will look to just hit moving forward.
