Robert Wright III is currently training with one of the best players to ever play his position.

BYU’s new point guard is competing at the Chris Paul Elite Guard Camp, hosted by 12-time NBA All-Star Chris Paul in Las Vegas. The camp began Tuesday and runs through Friday.

What is the Chris Paul Elite Guard Camp?

The camp invites a select group of high school and college guards to train with Paul, with this year’s class including Purdue’s Braden Smith, Houston’s Kingston Flemings and others.

“Players are tutored from Chris on everything from skill development to film breakdown to life skills,” reads the camp’s website.

Across 20 NBA seasons, Paul has averaged 17.0 points per game with 4.4 rebounds and 9.2 assists. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest point guards in NBA history.

Additionally, Paul is very familiar with Cougars head coach Kevin Young, who was an assistant in Phoenix for all three seasons Paul starred for the Suns.

Wright transferred to BYU from Baylor this past offseason. In his freshman campaign with the Bears, he averaged 11.5 points and 4.2 assists per contest while shooting 41.4% from the field and 35.2% from 3-point range.

“I mean, I played against (BYU) last year, so just seeing what they are building (was a factor),” Wright told the Deseret News in April of his decision to come to Provo. “Just seeing a great coach like Kevin Young, and getting a chance to play (for) someone like that, who coached a guy, CP3 (Chris Paul) who I try to model my game after in a lot of facets. So seeing that, seeing what they are building and the environment (from) being out there, and seeing the fans and the crowd and everything, it was just a good place.”
