The MLB trade deadline is quickly approaching, set for Thursday, and the New York Yankees have emerged as one team looking to add talent for a World Series push.
They've already made several exciting trades to bolster the lineup, including landing two third basemen in Ryan McMahon from the Colorado Rockies and Amed Rosario from the Washington Nationals.
However, pitching is another area in which they could improve on, and Monday, The New York Post's Jon Heyman floated one idea, writing, "Nestor Cortes is a trade candidate with the amazing Brewers actually having a starter surplus. Might the Yankees bring him back? via an X post."
Of course, Cortes spent five years with the Yankees (2019 and 2021 to 2024), where he found a decent amount of success, tossing 555.2 innings with a 3.61 ERA and a 1.132 WHIP while also making the All-Star Game in 2022.

The idea of a reunion has quickly caught the attention of many fans, but many of them are rejecting the idea and frankly want nothing to do with Cortes back in the pinstripes.
"Heck No we aint bringing him back, he would not wanna return neither. We need more talent not low grade options," said one comment.
"We have enough issues don’t need another BP thrower," said another.
"HAHAHA. No," a third added.
A fourth stated, "Loved Nestor but no, look for fresh arms. Nestors time here is over."
"I think that bridge may be burned," a fifth continued.
"God no. Please no. We need to make our pitching better not worse!!" said another.
In defense of the Bronx fans, it has been a disappointing season for Cortesas as he has been sitting on the IL since April 6 (retroactive to April 4), due to a left elbow flexor strain.
In his short time healthy, he hasn't been impressive either, putting together two starts for the Brewers, racking up just eight innings, allowing seven hits, eight earned runs, seven walks, five home runs, a 9.00 ERA and a 1.750 WHIP.
