Kuminga is focused on his future.
Jonathan Kuminga has been one of several talented free agents that is suffering from this year's restricted free agency market.
It's been exactly a month since free agency started, yet Kuminga hasn't come close to a deal with the Warriors, and it seems very possible that he could play elsewhere next season.
He wants to get the value he believes he deserves, which is going to require him to sit out...but not with the Warriors.
NBA insider Marc Stein reported that Kuminga "is not expected to play for his national team due to his ongoing restricted free agency stalemate with Golden State."
AfroBasket is one of the two major international continental tournaments taking place this summer, the other being EuroBasket.
Kuminga had plans to play for the Democratic Republic of Congo in AfroBasket, but it seems it's more of a priority for him to work towards a deal, in what hasn't been an easy process so far.

He would have been his country's best player in the tournament, but their chances of a run may have significantly decreased after the report that he's no longer expected to play, after initially being listed on the roster.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Kuminga and the Warriors are continuing to struggle on terms for a new deal. He noted that Kuminga has continued to decline the two-year, $45 million deal he's been offered.
The Warriors have also explored sign-and-trade options throughout the month, with the Suns and Kings being reported as two teams with interest in the young forward.
It doesn't appear that any decision will be made soon, especially after Kuminga reportedly decided to pull out of AfroBasket, which starts in a couple of weeks.
