The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center high school Athlete of the Week voting occurs each week during high school sports competition and recognizes athletes across all sports.

Athletes are on this week's ballot based on information made available to The Dispatch and nominations.
Once athletes win during the regular season, they're not eligible to be back on the ballot until the postseason. If athletes haven't won in the regular season, they can be nominated more than once.
The Dispatch staff reserves the right to remove ballots or athletes from the ballot where voting irregularities have occurred.

Here are this week's Athlete of the Week candidates:
Carmela Biedenbach, Hilliard Darby basketball: Had 9 points, no turnovers and went 6 of 6 from the line to seal a win over Olentangy in the fourth quarter. She plays every guard spot, defends the other teams’ best players and shoots 40% from the 3-point line and 80% from the free-throw line.
Jeniya Bowers, Africentric basketball: Scored 26 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, in a 58-49 win over Walnut Ridge.
Mary Kidwell, New Albany basketball: Made a program-record eight 3-pointers, breaking a mark that had stood since 1998, in a 75-20 win over Central Crossing. She finished with 28 points.
Remy Largent, Big Walnut basketball: Made nine 3-pointers and finished with 33 points, six assists, six steals and six rebounds in an 80-18 win over Westerville North. She had 55 points, 14 assists and 13 rebounds in three games last week, all wins.
Sophie Sater, Logan gymnastics, track and field: Broke the school’s girls Indoor pole vault record with a jump of 11-5, then won the all-around competition in a gymnastics tri-meet at Lancaster. She placed first on Floor, second on bars, third on beam and fourth on vault in the meet.
