San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Keion White is undergoing surgery Monday evening after being shot in the ankle early Monday morning, ESPN's Nick Wagoner reported.

According to multiple reports, White's injuries are not considered life-threatening, and he's expected to recover.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that White was at a nightclub in the city following Super Bowl 60 when he was shot. (The Chronicle and SFGATE are both owned by Hearst but have separate newsrooms.) The San Francisco Police Department has launched an investigation into the shooting.
"A preliminary investigation revealed a verbal altercation occurred between two groups inside a business," SFPD said in a statement. "The victim was injured when shots were fired by an unknown suspect."
