Records, milestones and firsts: the key stats from Sassuolo vs Inter

A perfect night for Inter, who swept aside Sassuolo with a commanding 5-0 away win on Matchday 24 of Serie A. Cristian Chivu’s side demonstrated their outstanding form with a performance that was solid, spectacular and record-laden, backed up by numbers that fully reflect the strength of the Nerazzurri.

THE NERAZZURRI’S CURRENT FORM

Inter continue to make history away from San Siro. With the win in Reggio Emilia, the Nerazzurri have recorded eight consecutive away victories in the league for the third time in their Serie A history: as last season, and as in 2006/07 under Roberto Mancini.

There’s more. Inter have now claimed 10 wins in their first 12 away matches of the season for only the third time in the top flight, after 2006/07 and 2023/24.

On the European stage, the numbers are just as striking. Inter are the team with the most clean-sheet wins across Europe's top five leagues, with 13 – at least two more than any other side (Arsenal are second on 11).

The record against newly promoted teams is flawless too: six wins from six, a feat achieved only once before in the past 20 years, in 2021/22.

Set pieces once again proved decisive. Two goals from corners, both headers, underline Inter’s status as the only Serie A side to have scored more than 10 goals both from corners (13) and with headers (12). Added to that, two goals came from defenders, another seasonal benchmark: no team has scored more goals through their defenders (11).

PERFECTION FROM DIMARCO

It was a night to remember for Federico Dimarco, our outstanding man on the left flank. With three assists in a single away match, the No.32 became just the second full-back to achieve this feat in Serie A since records began in 2004/05, after Massimo Oddo in 2006.

Dimarco has now moved to 11 league assists, a tally no defender has ever reached after the first 24 matchdays of a Serie A season. Over the course of an entire campaign, only Massimo Oddo has registered more assists among defenders (13 in 2005/06), while Dimarco now draws level with Maicon (11 in 2009/10).

It was also his fourth Serie A match with multiple assists, and the first time he has done so away from home, another landmark in a season of exceptional numbers.

LAUTARO MAKES HISTORY

Lautaro Martínez’s goal against Sassuolo reaffirms his place in the history books. With 171 goals in Inter colours, the Argentine draws level with Roberto Boninsegna in the Club’s all-time scoring chart, now trailing only Giuseppe Meazza (284) and Alessandro Altobelli (209).

In Serie A alone, Lautaro has reached 129 goals for Inter, overtaking Altobelli (128) and moving behind only Meazza (197), Benito Lorenzi (138) and Stefano Nyers (133) in the Club’s league rankings.

More broadly, among players who have scored exclusively for a single club in Serie A, only five have managed more goals than Lautaro: Francesco Totti, Alessandro Del Piero, Giampiero Boniperti, Gigi Riva and Eraldo Pascutti, placing the Inter captain firmly among the true elite of Italian football history.

TIKUS LEAVES HIS MARK

Marcus Thuram continues to make his mark against an ever-growing list of opponents. Sassuolo became the 20th different teamthe Frenchman has scored against in Serie A. Since his Nerazzurri debut in 2023/24, no player has done better – only Lautaro Martínez matches the same total, also on 20.

FIRST TIMES

The night in Reggio Emilia will be one to remember for Manuel Akanji and Luis Henrique, who both scored their first-ever goals for Inter. Their goals add to a statistic that underlines the depth and collective strength of the Nerazzurri squad: Inter have now had 16 different goalscorers in the league this season, a joint record shared with Juventus and Cagliari.

Another night to savour for Inter, who keep charging forward, powered by performances, goals and numbers that reflect the quality of this top side.
