Marc Bernal was a happy man after scoring his first goal for Barcelona on Saturday in the 3-0 win over Real Mallorca in La Liga.

The midfielder came off the bench in the match and scored a really lovely goal to finish off Real Mallorca at Camp Nou.

Here’s what he had to say afterwards.

“Very happy. My first goal for Barça was very special. When Fermín came out, I saw the space. I was going to shoot with my right foot, but I saw Maffeo and decided to cut inside to shoot with my left. Mascarell got a touch, but it’s an incredible feeling. Very happy. These are dreams you never even imagine as a child,” he said.

“When I scored the goal, I thought a lot about how badly I suffered last year. It’s a great feeling. And for my family too. I thought about them because of my personal problems. From the beginning I knew this would go from strength to strength. I’m in better shape. Little by little I’m getting more playing time and making the most of it.”

Bernal also spoke about Barcelona’s great run of form and the intense competition for places in midfield in Flick’s side.

“We’re in a really good run of form. Especially going into the match against Atlético. I’m very happy with how these matches have gone and how they’ve continued,” he added.

“I think we’re at Barça and the most important thing is the relationship between us, even though there’s competition. The relationship is very healthy and we all get along very well. I get along very well with everyone. They know what it’s like to score the first goal in this shirt.”

Barcelona are back in action in midweek when they take on Atletico in the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
