These are the five best Brewers player nicknames for the forthcoming 'Players Weekend'

Major League Baseball will celebrate its third annual 'Players Weekend' later this month. Here are the best Brewers nicknames you'll see on jerseys.

The jerseys might be fairly boring this year, but the names on the back will still be batty.

Major League Baseball's annual "Players Weekend" arrives Aug. 23-25, when the Brewers host the Diamondbacks at Miller Park. The jerseys this year will lack the loud color palette of years past, reverting to a monochromatic look.

We still have some wild nicknames on the back, though -- including some emojis.

There's also another new element: players will have some expanded access to mobile devices on the field and in the dugout, meaning they could also post to social-media accounts during the game.

Here's a look at the best Brewers nicknames this year. It should be noted that Mike Moustakas, Christian Yelich and Ryan Braun don't yet have confirmed nicknames selected.

Lorenzo Cain - THREE KID$

Cain's trio of young children deliver in the adorable department, but hey, kids still cost, am I right? The superhero of center field pays playful tribute to his sons Cameron, Jayden and Landyn.

Drew Pomeranz - 🌴

So we have emojis this year! New acquisition Drew Pomeranz is going with a palm tree -- seemingly a riff on his last name -- and Jeremy Jeffress is going with a bread and butter emoji pairing that ties into his "Bread and Butter" food truck, which is now up and running selling sea food.

Adrian Houser - DOOGY

The 80s television show Doogie Howser, M.D., is well before Adrian Houser's time (the show wrapped in 1993, the same year Houser was born), but props to the old-school shoutout! Man, there are so many different spellings for the word "Houser" if you're a Wisconsin sports fan who also happens to love early 90s television.

Jacob Faria - FUH-REE-UH

Brilliant. I mean, we all had the same question when the Brewers acquired the former Rays reliever for Jesus Aguilar. How, exactly, do we pronounce that? Now we know.

Craig Counsell - EL POLLO

Brewers manager Craig Counsell greets former baseball commissioner Bud Selig after Selig threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

That's Spanish for "The Chicken," and ... well, if you don't know "The Chicken Runs at Midnight" story starring Craig Counsell, then you should familiarize yourself immediately. And prepare to cry.

Sadly, Matt Albers is going with "Big Salt" and not some variation of "Big Ole Bucket of Sassy." Perhaps next year.
