Villanova offers 2028 five-star Mason Collins

The Wildcats offered Collins after attending Wednesday’s win vs. Seton Hall.

Kevin Willard is not wasting time with one of the top players in the Class of 2028.

On Tuesday, five-star sophomore Mason Collins announced that he received an offer from Villanova. Collins was in attendance on Wednesday night as the Wildcats completed a season sweep against Seton Hall.

Villanova is now Collins’ third official offer. He received his first from South Carolina followed by Virginia, while also drawing attention from Duke, Syracuse, Notre Dame, and Clemson.

Collins is currently ranked as the No. 1 player in Delaware and No. 9 player nationally, according to 247Sports. He plays for The Tatnall School for his father, Mardy, who is a former star at Temple and NBA first-round pick. Collins’ mom, Ariana, also starred at Temple and is currently the director of operations for South Carolina women’s basketball.

At 6-foot-6, Collins has become known for his court vision and overall IQ of the game. His size allows him to show off multiple skillsets at the small forward position. Collins has shown an ability to contest shots at the rim while handling the ball like a guard and knocking down shots from the perimeter.

Collins impressed last summer during his time playing for Team USA’s U16 national team and Team CP3 in the 15U division. For the USA team, Collins averaged 10 points and 3.5 assists per game. During last year’s EYBL regular season, Collins put up 12 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for Team CP3.

Collins’ recruitment remains in the early stages as he is in the midst of his sophomore year but Villanova made it a point to get in early for a player who projects as one of the top players in the nation.
