SAFA reveals opponents for Bafana World Cup preps

The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed Bafana Bafana will face Panama in two friendly matches as part of their 2026 FIFA World Cup preparations.

Hugo Broos' side will host the Central American team between 27-31 March, with the matches aimed at providing competitive, physical and tactical discipline for Bafana.

Panama, ranked 33 in the FIFA World rankings, will also be part of the expanded 48-team global tournament, and will be making their second appearance and their first since Russia 2018.

Bafana have been drawn in Group A alongside Mexico, South Korea, and the winner of the UEFA Playoff D - Czech Republic, Republic of Ireland, Denmark or North Macedonia.

The World Cup will be co-hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada, with the tournament set to run from 11 June to 19 July.
