Every season at Real Madrid, there seems to be a specific phase when Dani Ceballos steps into the spotlight.

It is almost a pattern in his time at the club where a stretch of matches arrives where circumstances demand his presence, and the midfielder suddenly becomes an important figure in the team.

This year, that moment appears to have arrived once again. With February bringing fresh challenges, Real Madrid are dealing with important absences, and that has opened the door for Ceballos to take on a bigger role.

Jude Bellingham’s injury has created a gap in midfield, while the team as a whole needs to raise its level in a crucial part of the season.

Crucial time for Ceballos

In this context, players capable of controlling the game become essential, and Ceballos fits that profile perfectly.

The Spanish midfielder has always been seen as someone who can bring order, possession, and creativity when given the chance. Now, with the squad stretched, his qualities could prove vital.

He already had a taste of that responsibility in the recent match against Rayo Vallecano, where he enjoyed more minutes and influence than usual.

The expectation is that he will once again be trusted in the upcoming clash against Valencia, as Alvaro Arbeloa will be without Bellingham due to injury and Vinicius Jr. because of suspension.

All eyes on the midfielder

This is exactly the type of situation where Ceballos tends to grow in importance. Usually seen as a secondary option, he suddenly becomes a key piece when the team needs depth and control in midfield.

Despite all the drama that happened in the previous summer, he has remained at the club, although changes on the bench affected his role.

With Xabi Alonso’s departure and Alvaro Arbeloa taking over, Ceballos saw his minutes reduced.

Arbeloa is known to favour youth prospects, which further limited Ceballos’ opportunities and puts his future into doubt.

Now, though, the situation is shifting once again. Injuries and suspensions have created the kind of environment where Ceballos can shine with more continuity.

For the midfielder, it is a familiar scenario, and also a fresh chance to prove his value when Real Madrid need him the most.
