Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed Danny Röhl's departure as manager.
Röhl took the reins with the Championship outfit as his first frontline coaching role in 2023 and defied the odds by steered them away from relegation to the third tier.
He followed that up with a credible 12th place finish last season despite Wednesday being hit with a three-window transfer ban due to their perilous financial situation.
But the Owls have reluctantly agreed a deal that leaves Röhl free to pursue his options elsewhere, although he is not expected to take a new job imminently.
A statement on the Wednesday website said: "Sheffield Wednesday can confirm the departure of manager Danny Röhl by mutual consent.
"The German coach joined the Owls in October 2023 and oversaw a successful survival mission to maintain our Championship status in his maiden season at Hillsborough.
"Wednesday then consolidated the following term, with Röhl steering the club to a mid-table finish in the second tier.
"Sascha Lense, Chris Powell, Neil Thompson and Sal Bibbo have also departed S6.
"Sheffield Wednesday would like to thank Danny and his backroom team for their services and wish them well for the future."
