The Athletic have revealed Chelsea want to sign more new players in the summer within three different positions.
Despite Chelsea recalling centre back Mamadou Sarr in the winter transfer window after missing out on signing Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, the report claims that they will still be looking to sign another new centre back in the summer as well.

And then there is a player who they have already signed who will be arriving to compete in the first team squad at the end of the season – Geovany Quenda of Sporting.
And as well as those two, Chelsea also have two other positions on the radar to sign in, despite Quenda coming in.

The report from The Athletic says that Chelsea desire a new centre back (regardless of Sarr), a midfielder and an attacker in the summer window. They also remind us that Geovany Quenda is already in place for him to join this summer. And then a decision will also be made on goalkeeper Mike Penders, who is also on loan at Strasbourg until the end of the season.
Sounds like they have plenty of plans for the summer then which begs the question, why do they still need so many more new signings to compete a squad build that they have already spent so many billions on? Not a good look.

The Athletic have been explaining why Chelsea decided against signing another new midfielder in the winter transfer window, and that reason is because of Andrey Santos and Romeo Lavia apparently.
And in the same report, it’s claimed that Chelsea are not bothered about missing out on Jeremy Jacquet in January because they have Mamadou Sarr and Josh Acheampong.
