The Detroit Tigers were dealt unfortunate pitching news just minutes after agreeing to a trade with the Minnesota Twins.
The Detroit Tigers were able to get a huge boost in their pitching rotation after trading for the Minnesota Twins' pitchers Chris Paddack and Randy Dobnak in a trade that had them sending their No. 14 prospect, first baseman/catcher Enrique Jimenez.
Unfortunately, just minutes after the Tigers agreed to the trade, they announced that starting pitcher Reese Olson would miss the rest of the 2025 season due to a shoulder injury.

Olson, 25, was placed on the 60-day injured list on Monday and will undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury.
"The Tigers are keeping the door open for Reese Olson (right shoulder strain) to return in the postseason, but he will be out for the regular season," Tigers beat writer Evan Petzold reported on Monday.
Olson had returned from the 15-day injury on the Fourth of July after he recovered from ring finger inflammation in his throwing hand, as it was affecting his ability to throw his changeup.
However, his return was just four starts long, and he won't be seen for the Tigers for at least the rest of the regular season.
Through 13 starts this season, Olson was on pace to have his best season of his short career. He will finish the regular season with a 4-4 record, 3.15 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, while striking out 65 in 68.2 innings pitched.
