Marc-Andre ter Stegen is facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering what appears to be a serious injury during Saturday’s La Liga clash against Real Oviedo.

There are fears the Barcelona goalkeeper, who has just moved on loan to Girona, has suffered a hamstring tear and may need to undergo surgery, according to Jijantes.

Initial reports are suggesting that Ter Stegen could be out for two months and may even return to Barcelona if he does end up being sidelined for a long time.

The Germany goalkeeper made the switch to Michel’s side in January after losing his place in Hansi Flick’s starting XI.

Ter Stegen had been hoping to play regularly to keep his hopes of being Germany’s No. 1 at World Cup 2026 alive and has started two games so far for his new club.

It remains to be seen when he will play again, with the goalkeeper now set to undergo more tests to determine the severity of his current injury.
