Chelsea have just “rebuffed an offer” from Premier League side for first team player

Chelsea have reportedly just rebuffed an offer from Crystal Palace to sign centre back Josh Acheampong on loan this transfer window.

Acheampong has been the subject of big offers coming in apparently as well this window, although this story is on a loan move for the young defender.

This all comes after the centre back sagas at Chelsea involving a bunch of names including Jeremy Jacquet and the failure to sign him, Aaron Anselmino being forced to join Strasbourg on loan after ending his loan at Dortmund, Mamadou Sarr coming in from Strasbourg as his loan is expected to be cancelled, and Axel Disasi possibly still heading to join West Ham today – although that one is even in doubt right now as well.

Chelsea’s transfer window this winter has just been all about defenders, and Josh Acheampong is a wanted man.

The Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg has recently posted on X:

‘Chelsea rebuffed an offer from Crystal Palace to sign Josh Acheampong on loan. They have no desire to let the defender go. Palace desperate for defensive reinforcements.’

Nothing about any big clubs coming in to sign him on big money. And it doesn’t look like Chelsea would entertain any sales or loans anyway and rightly so.

Big one for the future

Acheampong is going to be a superb player for the future and Chelsea need to use him wisely. By that I mean use him way more than they already are.

He’s a class player but needs to be trusted more with more game time, otherwise he will soon be getting itchy feet and could end up asking to leave the club.
