If there was ever any doubt as to how good Shaker Stevenson really is he put it all to rest last night (Sat., Jan. 31, 2026) in New York City against Teofimo Lopez, dominating “The Takeover” for pretty much the whole fight inside Madison Square Garden.
From the jump Stevenson made it clear to Lopez that if he wanted to score some strikes of his own he was going to have to deal with his lightning quick jab to get in. Indeed, Stevenson utilized his most powerful asset to not only keep his foe at bay, but to punish him in the process.
Stevenson was light on his feet all night, and despite the criticism he gets often of constantly being on his heels, he did the opposite just to prove a point, staying in the pocket and in Lopez face all night. His precise strikes eventually cut Lopez open, who only managed to win one round out of 12. In the end, Stevenson walks away with a unanimous decision win, as well as the WBO and The Ring Junior Welterweight titles and is the youngest fighter ever to become a four-division champion at just 28 years of age.
Check out some of the highlights:
After his win, Stevenson (25-0) called out none out none other than Conor Benn for a showdown. Not one to miss the opportunity for a face off, Benn climbed in the ring and had a war of words with the young champion. Both men pleaded their case to promoters to make the fight happen, so now we wait and see if it comes to pass.
