After ‘intense’ January, Harry Kane wants Bayern Munich to focus on the path forward

During his legendary career at Tottenham Hotspur, Harry Kane probably spent a lot of time looking back at key matches and wondering what he could have done differently to change the path toward lifting a trophy. After finally getting over the proverbial hump last season by winning the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich, Kane is focused on the process rather than individual results.

“It was a tough game against a good team – especially at their home, with the fans and the atmosphere,” said Kane (via @iMiaSanMia). “The first half was difficult; it was probably 50-50. Even so, we had our moments where we could have done better in the final third. In the second half, I thought we played well. We looked like the more dangerous team.

That is certainly a “glass half” review. Bayern showed resilience in the middle of the match but lost a lot of momentum after Hamburg’s second goal. Perhaps if Joshua Kimmich’s shot avoids the crossbar, the optics would be different.

“I’m proud of the team and the fight we showed,” Kane added. “We have to keep going. It’s been an extremely intense month with a lot of games, so we can’t complain now. The season is still long; there’s no reason to get nervous. We just need to prepare well.”

Kane’s attitude is bursting with positivity, leadership, and experience. There are plenty of naysayers to go around, making Kane’s response even more important for the difficult road that lies ahead.
