Ava has announced her exit from WWE in a decision that comes despite her father’s ongoing role at the top of the company’s ownership structure.
Ava, real name Simone Garcia Johnson, the daughter of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, has confirmed she is leaving WWE after choosing not to renew her contract.
Her departure comes while Johnson remains a member of the board of directors at TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE. The announcement follows Ava’s final appearance on WWE NXT earlier this week.
Ava confirms WWE exit after final NXT appearance
Ava revealed her decision in a statement shared on social media, confirming that her most recent episode of NXT marked the end of her time with WWE. She said the choice not to renew her contract was difficult but represented a turning point.
She spent six years under the WWE umbrella and most recently served as NXT general manager, a role she held exclusively for the past three years.
“This past Tuesday was my last appearance on NXT and subsequently WWE. Thank you to all who have cheered, watched, and supported me through my journey.
“While my decision to not renew my contract was very difficult, it’s also a new turning point in my life. It has been an honor and a privilege to be Ava.”
The statement marked a clear end to her on-screen association with the company.
Departure comes despite Dwayne Johnson’s TKO role
Ava’s decision arrives despite her father Dwayne Johnson holding a board position with TKO Group Holdings, which oversees both WWE and UFC.
The move underscores that her exit was not influenced by his presence within the company’s ownership structure.
Johnson has previously spoken publicly about his pride in his daughter forging her own path within professional wrestling, while avoiding reliance on his influence.
WWE also issued a statement acknowledging Ava’s contributions, thanking Simone Garcia Johnson for her work and wishing her well in her future endeavours.
