‘Buffalo Joe’ Andreessen believes in the future of the Bills

The linebacker spoke with SB Nation about Sean McDermott and what he meant to his development, the future of the Bills, and of course, Buffalo wings.

The Buffalo Bills are in a weird spot.

Sean McDermott is out as head coach. The process that led to finding someone to succeed him seemed not-exactly-thought-out and the team ultimately went with someone in-house in offensive coordinator Joe Brady. The Bills go as Josh Allen goes, so to some degree this makes sense, but the process was hardly clean and efficient which is the point.

What’s more is that the Bills have seen their ownership, um, speak a bit as of late. Bills owner Terry Pegula spoke about the decision to fire McDermott in its initial aftermath and during it he directly called out one of the team’s wide receivers in Keon Coleman by casting doubt on the process that led to drafting him, something that Pegular blamed on the outgoing McDermott.

As you can see… there is a lot to talk about regarding this team which is why I was glad to have a chance to speak to linebacker Joe Andreessen. “Buffalo Joe” is one of the more beloved figures involved with the team these days and he noted that while times are a little tough, he has excitement for the future.

It should be noted that Joe gave a lot of credit to McDermott for his own development as a player and person. He was particularly grateful to McDermott for giving him his chance in the NFL; he was an undrafted free agent, but he noted that he trusts the direction that the team is headed in under Brady.

Andreessen is known as “Buffalo Joe” because of his affinity and experience growing up in the Buffalo area. He is a Buffalo dude through and through which means that he is a Buffalo wing dude through and through.

Joe has partnered up with Perdue because of how easy they make cooking world-class wings, he noted that his girlfriend typically handles the cooking but that he is able to manage these because of how easy Perdue makes it.

As part of a playful yet earnest new campaign set in Buffalo, Perdue enlisted a cast that included Buffalonians and New Yorkers with ties to the city to give their take on Perdue’s industry-first air fryer-ready wings. Even Buffalo football player and hometown hero Joe Andreessen weighed in with his thoughts. Their verdict? Though most of the Western New Yorker wing aficionados were reluctant to declare Perdue Air Fryer Ready Crispy Wings better than what you can enjoy in Buffalo’s bar scene, the interactions make the case that Perdue offers “the next best wing” when Buffalo’s bars aren’t an option.

Joe Andreessen shared that he is a fan – but only if he’s not able to get wings from his favorite Buffalo haunts. “If I want some wings late at night or a storm has shut down the city of Buffalo, Perdue’s air fryer wings are the wings I’m making at home. They’re crispy, crunchy and super flavorful. In a town like Buffalo, they really are the next best wing. In any other town? They’re outstanding.”

During this year’s big game, the next best wing is just a short walk to the freezer – and 18 minutes in the air fryer. Perdue® Air Fryer Ready Crispy Wings are specially formulated for air frying and available in three mouth-watering varieties:

Hot N’ Spicy Air Fryer Ready™ Crispy Wings are a burst of fiery flavor. Coated in a paprika-based bold spice blend, these wings are sure to test your tastebuds.

Lemon Pepper Air Fryer Ready™ Crispy Wings offer a savory and tangy bite with zesty undertones from lemon oil and lemon juice, and feature a subtle warmth from turmeric and onion, delivering a bold flavor in every bite.

Roasted Air Fryer Ready™ Crispy Wings are a perfectly crispy savory wing that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Each bite is packed with a variety of balanced flavors like onion and garlic, followed by deliciously juicy, tender chicken.

After we debated between ranch and bleu cheese — Joe is a bleu cheese believer — I shared an idea with Andreessen that I have tried to make mainstream for a while. You see, typically the containers for sauce (whichever you prefer) are round. That is hardly ergonomic for dipping your entire wing in there. As a society we need to come together to develop rectangular containers so we can spin our entire wing in and enjoy it.

It is a bold idea and something that only the future will prove to be legitimate or not, similar to next season for the new-look Bills. Whatever they have going on, if Joe Andreessen is a part of it then I trust it to be legitimate.
