Scottie Scheffler and his caddie, Ted Scott, have built a partnership that seems to fit perfectly.

Both men share strong religious beliefs and their faith has played a role in strengthening their bond over the past four years.

Scheffler’s game took off when Scott first joined him at the RSM Classic back in 2021.

Since then, he’s become the dominant force not just on the PGA Tour, but in global golf as a whole.

Scheffler has been impressively consistent with Scott by his side, and last week’s performance at the American Express suggested he could be gearing up for another big year in 2026. He cruised to victory without really needing to find top gear.

There aren’t many people who know Scheffler better than Ted Scott. He’s one of the top caddies in the game, so it makes sense he’s working with the best player around.

Scott spoke to SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio about what he believes makes Scheffler so good.

“Great players don’t like giving up, you know, anything. I mean, I think that’s one of the things that that I’ve just never had in me, you know, like, I always say if Scottie Scheffler was playing a nine-year old-girl in ping pong, he would want to beat her 21-0.”

“And then he would apologise afterwards, but while it was going on, he would have no mercy. That’s certainly just the feeling that you get when you compete against him in anything.”

“When I first started working for him, he was 19th in the world and he had a white golf bag. You know, no logos on it.”

“He just doesn’t chase records, money or fame. The guy just loves to compete. And because he loves to compete and wants to be in the mix is super dedicated to preparing for the test.”

“This off-season, I think they worked real hard on his body and it’s probably the best I’ve seen him look as far as setup.”

Early signs suggest another dominant year could be ahead for Scheffler on tour. The tools are all there for him to continue reaching new heights.

Scottie Scheffler’s mindset is what sets him apart

As Scott pointed out, it’s Scheffler’s relentless drive and desire to win that truly set him apart. That mentality might be the most important factor in his success. But there’s another aspect behind his impressive stretch of form over the last four years.

He has picked up 20 PGA Tour titles and four majors since February 2022, and that success wouldn’t be possible without a clear separation between golf and family life.

Unlike some players who let their professional lives bleed into their personal ones, Scheffler keeps the two worlds completely separate.

Scheffler might be one of the fiercest competitors in golf, but once he leaves the course, he doesn’t dwell on how he played—good or bad. His focus shifts entirely to his family.

Being able to balance that competitive edge with a strong commitment to home life isn’t something many athletes can pull off so well. It speaks volumes about why he’s been able to maintain such high standards for so long.
