Caitlin Clark’s absence has definitely been felt not just by the Indiana Fever, but by WNBA fans everywhere. After lighting up the league in her rookie season, her recent groin injury sidelined her just when things were heating up.

She missed a few games, including the highly anticipated All-Star Weekend, and fans have been anxiously waiting for any word on her return. Well, the wait might finally be over. According to a new report from ESPN, Clark’s comeback is officially on the horizon and there’s a date to circle on the calendar.

Caitlin Clark has been out since July 15 with that nagging groin injury. According to ESPN’s injury tracker, there’s finally a glimmer of hope that a projected return date of Aug. 12 has been listed next to her name.

That’s just a day before the Fever are set to face the Dallas Wings on Aug. 13. While the team hasn’t made anything official yet, fans are definitely crossing their fingers that this timeline holds up and Clark is back on the court soon.

Clark’s second season has been a rollercoaster, flashes of brilliance mixed with frustrating injuries. Despite battling multiple muscle issues, including quad tightness and now her second groin injury, she’s still managed to put up solid numbers.

Through 13 games, Clark is averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists (second-best in the league), and 5.0 rebounds. Not bad at all, especially considering she’s rarely been at 100%. That said, the injuries have clearly affected her rhythm; she's shooting just 36.7% from the field and 27.9% from deep, far from what fans are used to seeing. The most recent injury, a right groin strain on July 15, came late in a tough game against the Connecticut Sun.

Since then, she’s had to sit out several matchups, including the All-Star weekend in her home city of Indianapolis. Fever will be hoping that Clark can return to action as soon as possible as the Fever sit third in the Eastern conference at the moment.
