Official Europa League draw | Stuttgart to face Celtic in playoff round as they learn path to round of 16

Similar to the Champions League, the league phase of the Europa League also concluded on Thursday, with Stuttgart and Freiburg both progressing.

Due to other results, Stuttgart were unable to finish in the top eight despite winning their final game against Young Boys. This means they would have to go through the playoff round. 

While Freiburg lost their final game of the league phase, they maintained their place in the top eight, meaning they get a bye to the next round. 

Stuttgart will face Celtic in the playoff round, and if they progress, Porto or Braga will be their opponents in the round of 16. 

For Freiburg, they will play either Genk, Dinamo Zagreb or Brann, Bologna.

Both have been presented with strong paths to advance deep into the competition. There is a chance that the pair could meet in the semi-finals of the Europa League.
