Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo Goes has published an apology on his social media after being sent off during Wednesday’s match against Benfica in the Champions League.
“Yesterday I got carried away in the moment when complaining about wasted time. It’s not my way of doing things. I had never been sent off playing with Real Madrid and I am aware of the consequences. I apologize to the fans, the club, my teammates, and the coach. We will continue united and fighting for this badge and for this Champions League! 🤍”

Rodrygo saw two consecutive yellow cards in injury time of the game and will now be forced to miss the first leg of the Champions League’s Round of 32 alongside Raúl Asencio, who also got sent off.
