Sky: Goretzka to Atlético Madrid likely off

Sky reported that there is a change of heart regarding Leon Goretzka’s transfer to Atlético Madrid after new rounds of talks on Thursday. The German international is now expected to reject Atlético‘s offer in hopes of leaving Bayern Munich on a free transfer in the summer.

All signs were pointing to the midfielder leaving the club in the final days of the January transfer market, but Sky now understand that the player is on the verge of declining a move until his contract runs out at the end of the season.

AC Milan are believed to be among the clubs to compete with Atlético Madrid, who were eager to sign him this month, for the free transfer of the midfielder. Goretzka will turn 31 next week. In Bayern’s Champions League win over PSV on Wednesday night, he was an unused substitute for only the third time this season.
