San Jose QB Walker Eget Is Now A Blue Devil

As Manny Diaz finds his next signal caller

After Duke’s fallout with previous quarterback Darian Mensah, who entered the portal at the last minute, Manny Diaz and company were in a real bind. Suing Mensah for breach of contract was probably critical as college sports moves to a pay-for-play world. Contract law is contract law and Duke appears to have a pretty good case.

However that works out, Mensah left Duke in the lurch and the Blue Devils need a new QB.

Well, they have one now: former San Jose State QB Walker Eget has apparently committed to Duke.

He had a decent year at San Jose State and will have the opportunity to play on a bigger stage. Can he pull it off?

We’ll find out. We will say this: history is full of guys who were decent quarterbacks of whom not much was expected and who turned out okay. Johnny Unitas was a 9th round pick. Tom Brady was a sixth round pick.

It happens in college too. We’ll see how Eget does, but we’re glad he’s a Blue Devil and let’s go Duke!
