Soccer standouts, girls weightlifters lead Tremendous 10 poll | Vote

Here are this week's nominees for The Ledger's Tremendous 10 poll.

The Lake Region boys soccer team reached the state championship game behind the leadership of its top player, and Lake Gibson reached the championship game of the girls district tournament with the chance to win its first district title since 2002. Meanwhile girls weightlifters excelled at last week's district meets, while the boys and girls basketball seasons continue their drive to the end of the season. Athletes from these sports lead this weeks Tremendous 10 poll.

In last week’s poll, Ridgeview Global Studies’ Jihanna Ahmetaj with 46.4 percent of the vote edged Davenport’s Gabriela Perez with 42.5 percent. Here are this week’s nominees.

1 Lake Region senior Judeson Adeclat (boys soccer) scored 11 goals in two games to send the Thunder into the Class 4A, District 7 championship game. For the season, he now has 29 goals and six assists.

2 McKeel sophomore Alayna Gage (girls weightlifting) won two events at Class 1A, District 12 meet and earned top lifter honors in both Traditional and Olympic. Gage, competing in the 110-pound weight class, won Traditional with at total lift of 220 pounds and won Olympic with 205 pounds.

3 Lake Gibson sophomore goalkeeper Carly Castro (girls soccer) secured her 10th win of the season with her ninth shutout of the season with five saves in the Braves’ victory in the district semifinals. For the season, she has a 1.00 goals against average.

4 Auburndale senior Zylia Parker (girls weightlifting) earned top lifter honors in both Traditional and Olympic at the 2A-11 district meet. Competing in the 154-pound weight class, she won Traditional with 365 pounds and won Olympic with 335 pounds.

5 Lake Wales junior Abby Childress (girls weightlifting) won Olympic with 330 pounds and won Traditional with 350 pounds in the unlimited class at the 2A-11 district meet.

6 Winter Haven senior Olivia Celiscar (girls weightlifting) won two individual titles at the 3A-9 district meet. Competing in the unlimited class, she won Traditional with 400 pounds and won Olympic with 355 pounds.

7 Davenport senior Desiree Antenor (girls weightlifting) also was a two-time winner at 199 pounds at the 3A-9 district meet. She won Traditional with 310 pounds and Olympic with 255 pounds.

8 Bartow junior Aniya Roux (girls weightlifting) was Polk County’s only two-time winner at the Class 3A, District 10 competition. She won Traditional with 325 pounds and won Olympic with 270 pounds in the 199-pound weight class.

9 Santa Fe Catholic senior Toby Lane (boys basketball) averaged 19.5 points, 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals. For the season, he is averaging 16.8 points, 4.7 assists and 3.8 assists.

10 Winter Haven senior Quin’Nya Gray de Sanders (girls basketball) averaged 22.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.5 steals in two games. For the season, she is averaging 16.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 5.8 steals.
