Joao Pedro has been under pressure recently as Liam Delap has returned to fitness, but the Brazilian did just what he needed to on Sunday by bagging a goal and drawing a penalty in the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.
“It’s a really good win for us and everyone is very happy, because we worked hard for the three points,’ the striker said to Chelsea TV.
“I think the timing of the goals allowed us to control the game. We kept things tight to begin with, we didn’t let them in and then once Estevao scored I think we could breathe a little easier and keep them away.

“It gave us a platform to build from, it meant we could organise well and then once we got the second goal after half-time, I think we controlled the game and were well worth the three points,” the former Brighton man continued.
“Scoring early in the second half was a big moment and it meant that Palace were not ready to readjust, and we could then take control.”
He’s spot on – a goal just before and just after half time is what you need, especially against a team which is low on confidence.
In other news…
Estevao impressed again yesterday – the question now is when he gets his next start. Wayne Rooney and the other MOTD heads were very impressed by his efforts against Crystal Palace, with one aspect of his game noted in particular.
Aaron Anselmino has been recalled from Dortmund, with the German side not happy about the short notice with which the Blues did this. There’s some debate about whether this unhappiness is justified.
