A man has been arrested by police investigating racist abuse aimed at Bradford City player Curtis Tilt following their match with Huddersfield Town.

The defender was reportedly targeted by a Huddersfield supporter making racist gestures as the 34-year-old left the pitch at the Accu Stadium on Saturday.

West Yorkshire Police said a 32-year-old man from Huddersfield was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.

He has been interviewed and released on conditional bail while investigations continue, the force said.

The incident was reported by the referee after the final whistle, police said.

Bradford lost the West Yorkshire derby 1-0, after Terriers' midfielder Marcus Harness scored after 23 minutes.

Bradford City condemned the "abhorrent" racist abuse and said it would "cooperate fully" with all investigations.

Huddersfield Town also issued a statement saying it was aware of the alleged incident and would assist the relevant authorities and officials.

Tilt, a Jamaican international, joined Bradford City from Salford City on a two-year deal in June.

He has also played for Blackpool, Rotherham and Wigan.
