The Manchester City captain has once again received high praise from Pep Guardiola

Throughout his time at Manchester City, Bernardo Silva has become an integral component in his team’s success. The Portuguese international has always been Pep Guardiola’s Mr. Fix-it. There hasn’t been a role beneath Bernardo, which is refreshing to see from a player with Bernardo’s reputation and standing in the game. Speaking after Manchester City’s win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, Pep Guardiola again gave high praise to his team’s captain. Bernardo Silva’s importance to this new-look Manchester City team cannot be overlooked as he is helping teach his new teammates the City way.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola gave glowing praise to Manchester City captain Bernardo Silva when he spoke after his team’s win over Wolves at the Etihad. Speaking about Bernardo Silva’s competitiveness, Guardiola said: “I sleep better when I decide to play Bernardo Silva and I have to take care of my health. He’s another type, a competitor, he has fire in his eyes still. Hopefully he can inoculate this fire to the rest of the group. How we defend every ball, read what we have to do. The guy who creates excuses forgets the mistakes and he never finds excuses.”

“He’s special because of how he competes in every game. Sometimes he cannot because he is exhausted. He has played the most minutes with me in 10 seasons here, it’s because he’s really good.“

Pep Guardiola added that he’d like Bernardo Silva to remain at Manchester City forever. He added that Bernardo has yet to decide what the future holds for him. Bernardo’s contract expires at the end of this season. Guardiola said: “I’d love for Manchester City, for myself, if Bernardo Silva could to stay forever. But we spoke a lot with Bernie and Bernie has to decide the best for him and his family. Whatever happens, this season, next season, in 10 years, he will remain one of the greatest players this club has had in its long history.“

Whatever happens with Bernardo Silva’s future he is setting a fine example for his teammates.

Who knows what the future holds for Bernardo Silva. His contract expires at the end of this season, and it isn’t clear if he will leave City or extend his stay at the club. The time for that discussion will come. What Bernardo is doing right now is showing Manchester City’s next crop of players what the standards are to play at the club. It requires sacrifice, hard work on the pitch, and fight on top of talent to scale the proverbial mountains that City have during Bernardo Silva’s time at the club. No player typifies all of this more than Bernardo. If his new teammates can follow his lead and learn from their captain, City will be well-placed to compete for and claim silverware for years to come.

Bernardo Silva remains vitally important to his team, as Pep Guardiola has again pointed out. He is a captain who leads by example. Even though Bernardo is getting older, the fight remains strong in the Portuguese international. He is leading the way superbly for his team, and it looks as if Bernardo Silva will do anything to help his team fight their way back to the top of the Premier League and compete for honors on multiple fronts.
