West Ham United Want 25-Year-Old Colombian Midfielder: Will This Be A Good Deal?

West Ham United’s performance has been up and down for the past few years. Under David Moyes, the club played well in the Europa League and also won a trophy, but the lack of consistency in the Premier League pushed them down many times. The team’s balance appeared to be disturbed in the 2024/25 season, especially in midfield under the new manager Graham Potter. The presence of Carlos Soler on loan did not make much difference. Also, the status of Guido Rodriguez, Tomas Soucek and Ward-Prowse remains uncertain.

Seeing this instability, the club are now looking for new options in midfield. The club’s focus is now on a player who can control the tempo of the game, string together proper passes and contribute to the goal. The team needs a player who not only gives defensive balance but is also active in the box-to-box role. In this scenario, some names have come to the fore, one of which is Nelson Deossa, who is currently playing for Mexican club CF Monterrey.

West Ham United want to sign Nelson Deossa in the summer

According to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra, West Ham United has shown interest in 25-year-old Nelson Deossa. The club wants to sign him in the summer transfer window. Deossa joined Monterrey from CF Pachuca in January this year, and since then, he has scored seven goals and one assist in 29 matches. He also scored one goal in four matches in the Club World Cup. His performance has also attracted other clubs in Europe and South America.

Deossa has the ability to carry the ball forward. His control, positioning and timing in attack make him special. This player, who started his career with Atletico Huila, has proved himself in Mexico. His agent, Cesar Tobon, is currently in Mexico and is assessing the situation regarding his transfer.

Will this be a good decision?

Now the question is, will this be the right decision for West Ham? In our opinion, this deal can be a positive sign for the team. Deossa’s style of play can fit into the fast and physical tempo of English football. He is active in a box-to-box role and also contributes to the goals, which is often missing in the current midfielders of the Hammers.

However, there is a risk. Deossa has not yet played for any European club. It will not be easy to adapt to the fast pace of England’s league. Also, teams like Nottingham Forest, Real Betis, AS Roma and Palmeiras are also after him, so West Ham will have to be swift. However, if the club signs him at the right time, then it can be a profitable deal.
