There are two young offensive minds that the Cleveland Browns are considering for their next head coach.
Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski and Los Angeles Rams pass game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase appear to be two candidates that the Cleveland Browns have serious interest in for their next head coach. Both coaches would be a risk given their minimal experience in the NFL, but they could also have extremely high upside. Taking into account what the Browns need, which candidate makes more sense in Cleveland?

Scheelhaase is a part of Sean McVay’s coaching tree, which gives him a very unique perspective. He has served as an offensive coordinator in college, but has not held that role at the NFL level. It would be a big jump for him to go from passing game coordinator to head coach, so his limited experience would make him a risky hire. There is upside in the hire given Scheelhaase’s ability to build a creative offense, which the Browns desperately need.
Udinski helped the Jaguars have one of the best scoring offenses in the league in 2025. Despite his young age, he has already served as a quarterbacks coach and assistant offensive coordinator, and now as an offensive coordinator, demonstrating strong progression in the league. Udinski is known to be an offensive innovator and would be ready to help Cleveland build a modern offense.
We seem to be just days away from finding out how the Browns have chosen, but what about the fans?
Let me know what you think in the comments – Which young coach is the better choice: Udinski or Scheelhaase?
