The Sacramento Kings have made multiple moves this summer to try and upgrade their roster to compete for a playoff spot next season in the Western Conference.

Sacramento began their offseason by selecting Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud in the 2025 NBA Draft and they then landed Dennis Schroder in free agency via a sign-and-trade deal with the Detroit Pistons.

While the addition of Schroder improves their point guard position and the additions of their young players in Clifford and Raynaud help bolster their depth, the Kings may elect to make more moves this summer to upgrade their roster further.

Sports Illustrated’s Jackson Caudell and Rohan Raman recently created a mock trade that would have the Kings trading one of their rising stars to the Cleveland Cavaliers with the Atlanta Hawks also being involved.

In the trade, the Kings would send Keegan Murray to the Cavaliers and would acquire De’Andre Hunter, Vit Krejci and an unprotected first-round pick in both 2030 and 2031 from Cleveland while the Hawks would land Dean Wade.

For the Kings, this trade does not make too much sense for them outside of them replenishing their draft capital, though it would require them to give up arguably their best young player.

Of course, Hunter would be a solid addition to their roster but Murray is three years younger and has the same skillsets as Hunter without the injury history.

Due to this, Sacramento would likely hold off on this trade as they have been unwilling to move on from Murray, likely due to him being one of the key pieces of their future if they decide to begin a rebuild in the near future.

While that may be the case, Hunter would give the Kings another solid wing scorer and defender and they would also add two first-round picks in the trade, though it would be a tough decision for them to move on from Murray this early in his career.
