Oregon secured a commitment from Rivals300 athlete and legacy recruit Sam Ngata on Saturday as head coach Dan Lanning and the Big Ten powerhouse hosted several coveted recruits this weekend.

The Ducks are well positioned for several more moving forward.

Harper Woods (Mich.) High blue-chip receiver Dakota Guerrant was back in Eugene and Oregon has been considered the leader since the fall. The Rivals Prediction Machine is picking up steam in favor of the Ducks.

Turlock (Calif.) High offensive lineman Avery Michael is another Oregon is setting the pace for early in his process.

“I’m very exited about Oregon!” Michael said. “The environment was insane. Very excited about the trajectory.”

La Verne (Calif.) Damien running back Malachi McFarland has an early offer from Oregon and could see himself having a lot of success playing for the Ducks.

“Oregon’s environment was welcoming and showed a lot of hospitality,” McFarland said. “The coaches and staff are very involved and want the best for their athletes even outside of football. The opportunity to potentially play for Coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks is exciting because this program is structured on sacrifice, growth and connections. This visit provided a lot of insight on their educational, nutritional and mental resources to be a successful athlete.”

Englewood (Colo.) Cherry Creek four-star offensive lineman Jackson Roper believes Oregon is a place that could get the best out of him.

“One thing that immediately stands out is the youth on their coaching staff,” Roper said. “You could feel the energy and excitement they have for every facet of the program. Coach Lanning’s focus and energy is contagious and you can see how it’s spread to every coach on his staff. It’s obvious that they’re intentional about every detail and it showed throughout the day in every aspect from sports science to the way they attack special teams. For me, family is extremely important, you can tell that everyone here feels a part of the brotherhood and is all in on Oregon Football. I’m excited to continue the recruiting process, I think they might be building something really special here in Eugene.”

Stay tuned to Rivals as more reaction continues to come in.
