It was announced on Wednesday.
Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Garcia has been nominated for La Liga’s U23 Player of the Month award for January, the league announced on Wednesday.
Gonzalo played both of Real Madrid’s league games before the nominees were announced, scoring three goals. He started the game against Real Betis, and came off the bench in the second half against Levante.
Other players who have been nominated in the category are Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez, Atletico Madrid’s Marc Pubill, Villarreal’s Alberto Moleiro, and Girona’s Vitor Reis. Only Moleiro and Reis were the nominees who played more than two games in the league, as the remaining three were involved in the Supercopa.
One of the goals from Gonzalo’s hat-trick against Real Betis — the volley from outside the box — was also nominated for the goal of the month award for January.
Gonzalo would hope to get minutes against Villarreal on the weekend, as he knows it could become hard to get substantial game time after Kylian Mbappé’s return to the starting XI.
